Pairing The Roots' legendary frontman with the cinematic soul production of Leon Michels, this project is steeped in deeply reflective boom-bap nostalgia. The instrumental tracks were largely constructed by sampling live performances from Michels' own band, creating an organic, dusty backdrop for Black Thought's consistently masterful, poetic lyricism regarding aging and legacy in the music industry.
