Album Notes & Community Reviews
Shedding the gentle, orchestral balladry of their recent output, the veteran Manchester quintet injects a frantic, heavily rhythmic energy into their sophisticated art rock. Guy Garvey's famously poetic, bittersweet lyricism is propelled by surprisingly muscular brass sections, squelching synthesizers, and dense, alternative dance grooves.
