Album Notes & Community Reviews

The formidable Brazilian vocalist dramatically updated her sound on this vibrant release, heavily integrating the burgeoning influence of American soul into her traditional samba repertoire. Notably featuring compositions by a young Tim Maia, the lush arrangements combine deep, syncopated rhythms with soaring, impeccably controlled vocal performances. It remains a joyous, sophisticated high-water mark of the MPB movement during a period of intense musical evolution.
