Album Notes & Community Reviews

The final installment of her critically acclaimed, monumental 'Song Book' series for Verve Records, this album finds Ella Fitzgerald tackling the witty, sophisticated lyrics of Johnny Mercer. Backed by elegant, swinging orchestrations arranged by Nelson Riddle, Fitzgerald's flawless intonation and rhythmic mastery elevate both well-known standards and lesser-known gems. It is a triumphant conclusion to one of the most important conceptual recording projects in vocal jazz history.
