Ella Sings Gershwin

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Marking one of her earliest deep dives into a single composer's songbook, this collection features stripped-down interpretations of George Gershwin's classic material. Accompanied only by pianist Ellis Larkins, the intimate setting highlights the vocalist's impeccable phrasing and control. This project laid the thematic groundwork for her highly successful songbook series produced by Norman Granz later in the 1950s.
