Album Notes & Community Reviews
Anchored by his thunderous, highly polyrhythmic drumming, Elvin Jones's 'Coalition' is a formidable showcase of intense, muscular post-bop. The album features a heavy-hitting frontline consisting of George Coleman and Frank Foster, who deliver fiery, extended solos deeply rooted in spiritual jazz modalities. It serves as a testament to Jones's peerless ability to drive a small ensemble with relentless, swinging power.
