Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded while he was still anchoring John Coltrane's legendary quartet, 'Dear John C.' serves as an inventive tribute to his iconic bandleader. Featuring an unusual ensemble with Charlie Mariano on alto saxophone and occasionally Richard Davis on bass, the album presents complex, open-ended post-bop that is surprisingly relaxed despite Jones's trademark explosive polyrhythms. It is a brilliant showcase of his abilities as a bandleader.
