Album Notes & Community Reviews

Following his legendary, tumultuous tenure with the John Coltrane Quartet, the master drummer led a muscular nonet for this powerful hard bop session. The arrangements lean heavily into driving, bluesy grooves, providing a structured yet highly volatile framework for Jones' famously polyrhythmic, explosive percussion style. The album highlights his capacity to effortlessly propel large ensembles with thunderous energy.
