Album Notes & Community Reviews
Also known as 'Raised on Rock / For Ol' Times Sake', this album was primarily recorded during highly erratic, tension-filled sessions at Stax Studios in Memphis. While Presley's declining health affected his studio attendance, the resulting tracks feature an undeniably soulful, slightly funk-inflected rhythm section and his remarkably powerful, mature vocal delivery. Despite its fragmented creation, the record captures the King successfully navigating contemporary 1970s pop-rock and R&B.
