Weirdo

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Weirdo', Emma-Jean Thackray channels themes of grief, mental health, and neurodivergence through a vibrant, genre-defying soundscape that she wrote, performed, and produced almost entirely alone. The album establishes a compelling dichotomy by setting starkly personal and raw lyrics against an effervescent musical backdrop blending P-funk, psych-rock, soul, and contemporary jazz. This results in a musically eclectic and emotionally profound statement, where buoyant, dance-floor-oriented grooves and intricate arrangements provide a framework for unflinching self-expression.
