Album Notes & Community Reviews

Stepping away from the country-rock fusion that defined her previous releases, the celebrated vocalist embraced a deeply traditional acoustic country sound for this Grammy-winning effort. Featuring collaborations with Willie Nelson and Don Everly, the record is characterized by stunningly pure vocal deliveries and organic, bluegrass-tinged instrumentation. It proved to be a major critical and commercial success, reinforcing her role as a vital protector of country music's historical roots.
