Album Notes & Community Reviews
The Chantilly Codex preserves 112 pieces of the ars subtilior, the rhythmically intricate song style of the Avignon orbit, and this programme draws twelve of them for voices and instruments. Baude Cordier's 'Belle, bonne, sage', notated in the shape of a heart, and Solage's 'Fumeux fume' stand among the most extreme products of late medieval notation.
