Album Notes & Community Reviews
Anchored by massive, instantly recognizable funk and rock samples, 'Strictly Business' brought a laid-back, infectious groove to the golden age of East Coast hip-hop. Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith trade incredibly smooth, deadpan verses filled with clever, boastful punchlines over dense, rhythmic production. It is an enduring, highly influential boom-bap classic that proved hardcore rap could be simultaneously raw, humorous, and commercially viable.
