Follow the Leader

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Follow the Leader', Eric B. constructs a denser, more complex sonic landscape than the duo’s debut, layering funk, soul, and jazz-influenced samples to create aggressive and atmospheric tracks. This evolution in production provides the ideal foundation for Rakim’s lyrical mastery, as he delivers intricate internal rhymes and intellectual boasts with a signature smooth, syncopated flow. The album marks a creative pinnacle for the pair, a seamless synthesis of pioneering production and revolutionary lyricism that set a new benchmark for hip-hop's artistic possibilities.
