Album Notes & Community Reviews
'Le grand macabre' is Ligeti's only opera, after Michel de Ghelderode's play, written in the composer's polystylistic late manner. Salonen's recording with the Philharmonia Orchestra documents the revised version of the score prepared in the 1990s.
