Paul Hillier directed the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir from 2001 to 2007, and this recording of Rachmaninoff's 'All-Night Vigil' was made in May 2004 at the Dome Church in Haapsalu. Rachmaninoff composed the fifteen movements in under two weeks in 1915, drawing on znamenny, Greek and Kyivan chant, and counted the work among his finest.
