Album Notes & Community Reviews

Conducted by Paul Hillier and recorded in a Tallinn church, the program centers on Dmitry Bortnyansky's Sacred Concertos Nos. 24, 27 and 32 and his Cherubic Hymn No. 7. Around them Hillier sets seventeenth and eighteenth century Orthodox music by Diletsky, Vedel, Galuppi, Titov and Sarti, whose 'Now the Powers of Heaven' gives the album its title.
