Album Notes & Community Reviews

Produced by legendary R&B architect Jerry Wexler, this recording finds the iconic vocalist in magnificent, fiery form late in her career. 'The Right Time' surrounds James's undeniably powerful, gravelly voice with crisp, Memphis-style horn arrangements and tight rhythm sections. The album proved that her interpretive skills and raw emotional delivery remained completely undiminished by time.
