Album Notes & Community Reviews

Art Alexakis led his Portland trio to massive mainstream success with this incredibly catchy, sharply autobiographical collection of post-grunge alternative rock. The highly polished, fuzz-drenched guitars mask deeply poignant, remarkably candid lyricism dealing directly with heroin addiction, poverty, and racial prejudice. The breakout success of the single 'Santa Monica' perfectly bridged the gap between underground angst and mid-90s radio dominance.
