The debut album from the Manchester-based band was recorded between 2008 and 2010 with producer David Kosten. Much of the recording took place at Bryn Derwen Studios, a residential studio in a converted chapel in North Wales. It is the only album to feature founding guitarist Alex Niven, who left during the extended recording period to pursue academic studies and was replaced by Alex Robertshaw, who completed the album and solidified the band's permanent lineup.
