Sol Invictus

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Marking their first studio release in eighteen years, 'Sol Invictus' presents a taut and menacing sound, driven by the band's self-production under bassist Billy Gould and a raw, organic recording approach. The album navigates dynamic extremes, from the brittle post-punk tension of "Superhero" and sinister blues-rock of "Cone of Shame" to the cinematic sweep of the title track, all unified by a dark, cohesive atmosphere. Mike Patton's versatile vocal performance ranges from aggressive growls to smooth crooning, complementing the tight, percussive instrumentation and solidifying the album's feel as a focused and deliberate comeback.
