Album Notes & Community Reviews

Josh Tillman reinvents himself as Father John Misty on this debut, blending Laurel Canyon folk-rock with sardonic wit and hedonistic storytelling. The lyrics are deeply personal yet performative, exploring the absurdity of the human condition. Musically, it is lush and warm, providing a comforting backdrop to Tillman's often cynical observations.
