Waller on the Ivories

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Focusing purely on his instrumental prowess, this compilation strips away the entertainer's trademark vocal humor to reveal the formidable engine of his piano technique. The powerful, relentlessly swinging left-hand rhythms provide an authoritative clinic on the stride tradition. The performances are remarkably fluid, underlining his status as a key architect of early jazz piano.
