Marking a significant internal shift, 'Archetype' is the first Fear Factory album released without founding guitarist Dino Cazares, who was replaced by bassist Christian Olde Wolbers on guitar duties. The record is widely viewed as a return to their classic industrial metal roots, featuring heavily syncopated, mechanical groove metal riffing and Burton C. Bell's signature dual vocal attack.
