Album Notes & Community Reviews

Stepping out from the towering shadow of his father, Fela, the Nigerian bandleader successfully modernized the Afrobeat sound for a new generation. 'Shoki Shoki' integrates polished R&B aesthetics and tightened horn arrangements into the sprawling, polyrhythmic foundation of the genre, maintaining a potent sense of political consciousness.
