Album Notes & Community Reviews

Fronted by the highly idiosyncratic songwriter Jimme O'Neill, 'The Very Dab' is a quirky, criminally overlooked milestone of Scottish new wave. The band blends jittery post-punk guitar lines with incredibly sharp, left-of-center power pop hooks, all delivered with a distinct, cynical bite. It remains a fascinating, highly inventive debut that pushed against the boundaries of standard late-seventies rock.
