The Swedish experimental jazz trio—consisting of Mats Gustafsson, Johan Berthling, and Andreas Werliin—delivered a masterful demonstration of tension and slow-building release. Returning to their core trio format after a large ensemble project, the album relies on incredibly heavy, repetitive bass grooves paired with sparse flute and baritone saxophone bursts. It captures a deeply moody, brooding atmosphere that slowly boils over into fiery free-jazz improvisation.
