Album Notes & Community Reviews
The Swedish free-jazz trio, consisting of Mats Gustafsson, Johan Berthling, and Andreas Werliin, delivers a creeping, deeply cinematic collection of avant-garde jazz. The record focuses less on explosive, fiery improvisation and more on sustained, brooding tension, utilizing cello and lap steel guitar to augment their usual instrumentation. It functions as a slow-burning, distinctly nocturnal, and incredibly suspenseful masterclass in dark jazz.
