Album Notes & Community Reviews
On 'Magdalene', FKA twigs crafts an experimental art pop statement that chronicles profound heartbreak and physical recovery through a synthesis of stark, intimate songwriting and intricate, genre-defying electronic production. [4, 11, 13] The album's sonic architecture, built with collaborators like Nicolas Jaar and Skrillex, sets a backdrop for a dynamic vocal performance that shifts between operatic fragility and raw strength, exploring themes of vulnerability, feminine power, and defiant reconstruction inspired by the biblical figure of Mary Magdalene.
