Album Notes & Community Reviews
Marking a drastic departure from their earlier black metal origins, the Norwegian duo embraces a wildly eclectic and disjointed experimental sound. 'Department of Apocalyptic Affairs' utilizes an expansive roster of guest musicians from the Scandinavian extreme metal scene to incorporate trip-hop beats, free jazz saxophones, and female vocal leads. The polarizing release is considered a defining artifact of avant-garde post-black metal.
