Small Mercies

Prior to their transformation into a massively successful, polished pop act, the Norwegian group debuted with an incredibly bleak, minimalist post-punk aesthetic. 'Small Mercies' is steeped in the icy, gothic atmospheres of Joy Division, heavily defined by driving, flanged basslines and sparse, heavily echoed piano melodies. The profoundly melancholic, highly atmospheric record remains a highly prized, cult-classic artifact of the early Scandinavian darkwave scene.
