Album Notes & Community Reviews

Deliberately moving away from sweeping big bands and lush string orchestras, the legendary vocalist utilizes the highly intimate accompaniment of the Hollywood String Quartet. The unusually sparse, chamber-like arrangements force an incredibly delicate, vulnerable, and deeply conversational vocal performance. It remains one of the most uniquely beautiful, intensely romantic, and musically daring ballad albums in his vast mid-century catalog.
