Album Notes & Community Reviews

A collection of deeply melancholic torch songs, 'Frank Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonely' is a definitive statement on heartbreak and solitude. Nelson Riddle's stark, classically-infused arrangements provide a spacious and somber backdrop for Sinatra's emotionally raw vocal performance, which was informed by his recent divorce and Riddle's own personal losses. Often cited by Sinatra as his personal favorite, the album's funereal mood is captured by its Grammy-winning cover art depicting the singer as a sad clown, solidifying its reputation as a masterpiece of despair.
