Album Notes & Community Reviews

Conducted with elegant restraint by Josef Krips, this recording highlights the immense scale and 'heavenly length' of Schubert's final symphonic masterwork. The Concertgebouw Orchestra delivers the complex, driving rhythms and soaring lyricism with characteristic warmth and architectural clarity. The album is universally lauded as a graceful, highly authoritative interpretation of early romanticism.
