Album Notes & Community Reviews

Firmly rejecting the highly polished sheen of contemporary Nashville, Freakwater's 'Old Paint' is a stunningly stark, traditionalist homage to vintage Appalachian folk and country music. The album centers almost entirely on the chilling, perfectly intertwined vocal harmonies of Janet Bean and Catherine Irwin. Its raw authenticity proved immensely influential to the burgeoning alternative country movement of the era.
