Bandana

On their second collaborative album, 'Bandana', rapper Freddie Gibbs delivers technically complex and versatile flows over the cinematic, sample-dense production of Madlib. The album explores themes of street-level consequence and philosophical reflection, with much of Gibbs's lyricism written while he was incarcerated. Madlib’s production, reportedly created entirely on an iPad, is characterized by its layered, soulful textures and abrupt mid-song beat switches that complement Gibbs’s unflinching narrative performance.
