Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded during his brief but fruitful tenure with Atlantic Records, the trumpet virtuoso leads a dynamic session that leans heavily into accessible, funk-inflected rhythms. 'High Blues Pressure' features robust arrangements and the notable presence of multi-instrumentalist Bennie Maupin. The album captures Hubbard successfully marrying his formidable hard bop technique with the commercially dominant soul-jazz sound of the era.
