Freddie Slack's Boogie Woogie

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Translating the rollicking energy of barrelhouse piano into a highly polished, commercially viable format, the bandleader proves his mastery of rolling eight-to-the-bar rhythms. The arrangements expertly bridge the gap between large ensemble swing and propulsive blues playing. The record solidified his reputation as a premier architect of the popular boogie-woogie big band sound.
