Album Notes & Community Reviews

The first Gamelan Son of Lion album sets pieces by Philip Corner, Daniel Goode, Barbara Benary, Dika Newlin and Elena Cary for an iron gamelan built partly from found objects such as hubcaps and food cans. Benary, Corner and Goode had founded the ensemble in New York three years earlier, and the record introduced their homemade instrumentarium to a wide audience.
