Album Notes & Community Reviews

Stepping away from the torrential noise-rock of The Drones, Gareth Liddiard crafted a stark, masterful acoustic debut. Armed only with a slightly out-of-tune guitar, he delivers harrowing, long-form narratives detailing Australian history, colonialism, and existential despair. The album's uncompromising, deeply poetic bleakness cemented his status as one of Australia's premier contemporary lyricists.
