Album Notes & Community Reviews

Riding an unprecedented wave of global megastardom, the country titan took significant artistic risks on his fourth studio album, confronting contentious social issues like racism and homophobia. 'The Chase' seamlessly blends his stadium-sized country-pop sensibilities with surprisingly introspective, progressive themes, most notably on the controversial hit 'We Shall Be Free'. While alienating some conservative traditionalists, the massively successful album solidified his legacy as a boundary-pushing cultural force.
