Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded when he was only 18 years old, 'New Vibe Man in Town' served as a remarkable introduction to vibraphonist Gary Burton. The album finds him employing an innovative three-mallet technique (soon to be four), allowing him to play complex, piano-like chords previously unheard on the instrument. While he stays within relatively conventional bebop and cool jazz forms here, his immense technical prowess is immediately apparent.
