Album Notes & Community Reviews

Attempting to merge his massive, soulful tenor saxophone sound with the prevailing Bossa Nova trend, Gene Ammons recorded 'Bad! Bossa Nova' with a rhythm section augmented by Latin percussion. The album is less concerned with authentic Brazilian nuance than with applying a gentle, syncopated sway to standard R&B and jazz forms. It highlights his unshakeable blues foundation, which heavily colors the entire session.
