Album Notes & Community Reviews

A prominent member of the AACM collective, George Lewis delivers a radically uncompromising document of unaccompanied avant-garde trombone playing. The recording thoroughly explores the absolute extremes of the instrument's sonic capabilities, utilizing extended techniques, mutes, and vocalizations to create an intensely challenging, abstract atmosphere. It remains a foundational text for experimental brass improvisation.
