As one of the first white musicians to fully assimilate the complex language of bebop, George Wallington uses 'Showcase' to demonstrate his incredible dexterity and compositional flair. The sessions feature his rapid-fire, Bud Powell-influenced right-hand lines supported by a deep, swinging rhythm section. The release solidifies his status as a critical, albeit historically unsung, architect of early hard bop piano.
