Album Notes & Community Reviews

Volume 30 of the Éthiopiques series, 'Mistakes on Purpose' is pianist Girma Beyene's first recording in twenty-five years, made with the French Ethio-jazz band Akalé Wubé after his return from exile in the United States. Produced by series director Francis Falceto, its thirteen tracks rework Beyene's golden-era repertoire, including 'Muziqawi Silt' and 'For Amha', dedicated to Ethiopian music entrepreneur Amha Eshete.
