Album Notes & Community Reviews
Built around fluid, single-note guitar lines, 'Iron City!' is deeply entrenched in the pocket of organ-driven soul jazz. The ensemble navigates through a set of infectious vamps and relaxed cool jazz tempos, allowing for ample, expressive soloing. The sessions capture the sophisticated yet deeply groove-oriented style that defined the guitarist's acclaimed mid-career output.
