Album Notes & Community Reviews

Arriving near the peak of their formidable 'Wall of Sound' live era, 'From the Mars Hotel' found the Grateful Dead refining their studio craft. The album seamlessly moves between Garcia/Hunter epics like 'Unbroken Chain', polished folk-rock harmonies, and Phil Lesh's uniquely complex, jazzy compositions.
