'Miss Anthropocene' is a concept album that personifies climate change as an apocalyptic, anthropomorphic goddess. The record marks a stylistic departure from the bright synth-pop of 'Art Angels', instead embracing a darker and heavier sound palette that draws from industrial, nu-metal, and ethereal wave music. Grimes combines her signature layered, airy vocals with murky, downtempo beats and moments of nu-metal aggression to explore themes of human extinction, villainy, and mortality.
