Album Notes & Community Reviews

DJ Premier provided an absolute masterclass in classic New York boom-bap production for this highly revered debut from the Gang Starr Foundation affiliates. The remarkably smooth, incredibly atmospheric jazz and soul samples flawlessly anchor the stark, deeply grounded street narratives delivered by MCs Lil' Dap and Melachi the Nutcracker. The highly influential, pristine production work cemented the record as an essential, definitive text of 1990s East Coast hip-hop.
